Should I turn on my aquarium lights when i'm cycling a new tank with live rock? There's nothing in the tank now except live rock and live sand. Does it even make a difference?

On or off doesnt really matter, other then promoting algae growth.bluemandarin;4468727; said:

Depends. After one week, I would add my cleaning crew and put lights on. It might grow algae, but it will also grow the cool stuff in the rocks... So its a buck a piece.
