hi, i realized, most of my bad picture taking is from my lights... the florescent lights i have, have such an electric look to them and ruin most pictures.. whats a move natural color light? one that will give off more of a natural color form the sun? if there are any? i've seen pics of tanks without the electric look, what lights do you use for this?

If you go into petsmart and look at their selection of lights, the packages are very informative. They tell you all sorts of stuff in layman's terms and in technical mumbojumbo. Also, Home Depot has lights that are made for the home with a kind of yellowish hue that made one of my tanks look like a 70's flick, but they also sell grow lights and aquarium lights that look natural. They sell all sorts of lights that are recomended for different things. I can't tell you exactly whast light to buy, but just browse the stores, and the packaging should describe to you what the light is made to look like. Hope that helps. To tell you the truth though, generally, the better they look, the more expensive.

Also, other conditions in the tank can add to a more natural look, including the background, the substrate, and the tent of the water itself.

You could try soft indoor lighting for a yellowish look, but that might not look natural really... just yellow. It sounds like you need to stain your water. Thr right piece of driftwood should do that. BUT that will not help your pictures. You will most likely trade off better picture quality for a more natural look. Your choice though.

i noticed most tanks with driftwood and plants have that look. i have a peice of driftwood being shipped, you think that could help with the 'electric' look?
i'm also thinking of buying some more black substrate, to help cover what i have, peppered substrate (1/4 black 3/4 white)

Most people want driftwood that doesn't stain the water, but the truth is that most pieces do, so yes, it should help. I think that black substrate is always good. Good Luck
