lightsfor my plants

For plants, look for Plant bulbs in the range of 6500k-12000k. I prefer the color of the bulbs closer to 6500k, the bulbs closer to 12000k are more blue.

Below 6000K, and about 10000K the lights are lose their effectiveness. Stick to 6500K, or 6700K for optimum growth.

yehp. as long as the bulbs are at 6500-7000 kelvin then that is great.

Before I switched over to HQI bulbs, I was using 8k pc bulbs. I found they did a fine job with my plants and did not give off a yellow look that is more characteristic of the 6500k bulbs. I think if you have a multi bulb fixture, than perhaps an 8k and one in the 65 or 67k range would be a good option IMO.

looks like i herd wrong (i think) i picked up a aqua-glo light which is 18000k is that bad or good and is it too weak or strong. i also have marine lights not sure is they do anythink to your lights but i picked them up so i could see my catfish

I may be wrong here, however i have been under the impression that the kelvin rating isn'y of any value, as it is just comparable to the light emited from the sum of its colour output.

therefore its the light outputs your supposed to look for. I've seen some plant bulbs wth K ratings up near 10'000. yet are supposed to be great for the plants.

IMO the marine glo would work, but would probably promote excessive algae aswell. a specificly designed plant bulb would probably work better

It could be good or bad. It all depends on where the peaks are on the spectrum.
