When I brought my beani in from the pond last fall, I tossed them into a 75 gal that had been home to a breeding pair of carpintus. A few carpintus fry were still left, figured they'd be goners, yet they persist, and even after my 2 week vacation unfed, they are still there.
The male beani occasionally makes halfhearted attempts to threaten the fry, but very lazy at best.
Not great shots, but just to get an idea...

That's pretty interesting. Do you think that will change when the caprintis youngsters get bigger? Do you plan on keeping them? They look nice even at that size.

I do believe if the carpintus get to a threatening size, they will be killed, but as long as they remain juvies, they seem to be fine.
There are 4 juvies in the beani tank, and probably another half dozen in other tanks, I'll probably keep a few, and may try them out in the pond when temps warm up.
