oookkkkk so my college has a bunch of ponds and invading lily pads everywhere.. so i want to steal a few and put them in my 150 tall.. good idea? bad idea? i really want them to block out some light and i love the red stems
Im not sure if thats a good idea.....could be carrying pests, or diseases, or just hard to maintain or over growing your tank. Try amazon frogbit, its a lily pad like plant used for aquaria, and you can find some for sale on aquabid.
im actually curious to see some posts about this, i just recently put a lilly from my outside pond into my aquarium. i washed it off before hand, but what should i look for as far as parasites? ( sry for jacking ur thread )
welllllll im likein the fact that its freee.... and large.. and red underneath.. and no worries about jackin my thread, im curious too, i just know that the more plants u have the better it chokes out algea, and since its blocking light its a double wammy.. and its a soft lid for my tank.... seeing how i just got hit in the face by a foot long gar... that *****flew right out of the tank and into my face...
i have a lily plant species in my tank and it grows like crazy, after putting just the bulb in the tank, 4 days later I had my first lily pad and within a month the tank was covered but mine is just a 46 gallon bowfront, so it may take longer for your tank haha
well my best QT success was a plant hospital i made, 5 gal bucket, several inches of used substrate, a handful of guppies and fill it with water and leave it out side for a week, made some seriously beat up plants look awesome after a week
