Hey guys I just got a new Lima baby hes only about 5" long, hes been staying towards the top by my heaters tho for some reason is it because its a new surrounding? What should he/ she eat? I have sinking shrimp pellets, floating Hikari gold, sinking omega pellets, some carnivore sinking pellets, frozen blood worms, frozen brine shrimp, is that okay for it? And how long it it take for it to grow to its full length, dont they grow to about 2'?

around 24" i think? i never had one i had a TSN but i think your lima should be more active then the TSN depends on your catfish if he swims around he should eat carnivore pellets and worms for sure

alright thats kinda what I figured except he doesnt swim towards the bottom really, but I cant really see him when its dark lol

I have two Lima's about 6-7inches. They are very active and race to the top of the tank to take floating pellets faster than my Silver Arrowana! I was told not to over feed as they seem to bloat up...so I am careful not to overfeed!

ah okay thanks for the info but he still doesnt seem to be eating? Could he still be a little stressed getting used to such a big tank from being in a tiny one at the petstore and not knowing what to do really/ or getting used to the surroundings?

I purchase one and then went back and go his budd a few days later. It took them a few days to relax... started on sinking pellets. They ate them but wern not crazy...then just started going crazy for the food sticks I was feeding my small silver.

They like cover when they are small, get them some plants to hover around in. Expect them to reach about 1 foot in about 6 more months. They will reach about 18" in 2 years and that is about the max for them.

x2 mine has stopped growing at 18

okay cool thank you, yeah i noticed he likes to hide but he sleeps by the heater at the top of the tank, he doesnt venture to the bottom of the tank much, and if he does he comes back up.

hes fine i have 2 baby limas that are both 5 inch as well like yours an have had them for about a month now...they both are always in the top corner by my heater as well..feeding wise...mine eat bloodworms, chopped up silversides, an frozen beefy meat...
