my lfs has a 8"is lima that i would like to get, and im wondering if my other fish would be good tankmates with the lima? i have a 8" oscar, 6" blood parrot, 5" severum, 15" gibby pleco and a number of assorted size silver dollars in a 125g. im sure some of the sd's will dissapear anyways, so im not worried there. the 125g is only for a year or 2 then i will be able to set up my 300g. thanks for any info or experiences you may have for me.

sounds like it would be fine
:D

GOR FO IT IF YOUR UGRADING ANYWAY [damn caps]

should be fine. My big Lima is in my 265 and none of the other fish even bothered to look at him (including 2 oscars)

Go for it. Lima's great!

your lima will be fine with your other fish i kept mine with a variety of other fish that were too big to fit in his mouth

Mine never bother my oscars, and my oscars never bother them. Every now and again the smallest one gets a wild hair and will chase any fish that gets close to him all over the tank till he's satisfied it's not trying to steal his roost on the piece of fake driftwood he's claimed. If not there he lays on the bottom beside the tsn he's been raised with. He doesn't school with my other limas, just hangs with the tsn. He'll be mad when I take the tsn out of his tank in a week. lol. He'll be the rightfull king of the tank then.

thanks guys, im gonna go pick it up soon. ohh one concern i just thought of is my dojo loach is the same size as the lima, and i dont care if the lima eats him, but am worried it could get caught half way out the lima, killing both. the loach is real good about staying out of harms way, evading every fish who has ever tried to eat him. what you think?

Not sure how big dojo loaches get, but if the lima gets about 50% larger he'll probably get ate. Might last quite a while, but you never know. I know dojos are pretty skinny, don't think it will harm him to eat it. I had a 28" rtc eat a 16" large mouth bass before. It was sticking half way out of his mouth for a week and the water reaked of rotting fish, and when I was about to try and get the fish back out he swallowed the other half no problems. Just massive water changes lol.

im shure he will get eaten eventually. anyways the lima is in my tank now for 5 hours and only just started snooping around the tank(i just turned of their light) everything seems cool so far except for the grumpy ass oscar is showing interest but no bites yet. that damn oscar killed a 10" silver aro in days after placing the aro in the tank, but he also bit the aro second after it hit the water. any tips on gettin him off live food, ive read starvation is the key?
