i had to cut the net and he still has some attached to his fins. will he be ok and what should i do. i just wanted to cut it and let him loose so he wouldnt stress more than he already had to.
well after some search, a lot of people say they just get it off on thier own. we will see. its on both fins. i turned the light out after the orino started acting interested but it seems to be acting normal. last time i tried to get a nice cat (juruense) disaster struck that time too except it was fatal!
it split his side fins a bit but that happens to fish all the time. just hope he didnt get roughed up and too stressed when i was trying to get it off. i even poked myself with his side stinger that son of a gun!!
If i were you, i would hold it upside down and get a razor blade and cut it off. I wouldnt want the net to cause any cuts that could easily get infected and get way worse.
Same thing happend to me I held him in on hand just below the surface and cut it away with a razor. His ventral spine broke off where it was attached a day later. and grew back from there.
The thing that amazed me the most was that my lima just stayed calm while I performed the operation and in turn gained my utmost respect.
