So one of my long term fish died yesterday (don't laugh, but it was a female swordtail.) was our second fish and 6yrs old. Anyway, the only fish really keeping me to my freshwater tank is my pictus catfish. He's about 6" and I've tried to base the tank around him. It has some tetras, tiger barbs and tinfoil barbs.
Now, I want to redesign the tank completely, and have 2 or 3 lima shovelnose cats in the tank along with my pictus and the tinfoil barbs.
So would they work in a tank that's only 18" wide?
I've seen some at 23", but they took years and years to reach that, and I'm sure if the time came that they were actually getting towards that size I would rehome or upgrade.
So could I keep the shovelnose cats with my pictus? Or would he become munchies for them?
This is just a thought that passed through my mind, as I've been thinking of going a different direction with my tank anyway.
Thanks
