I have two 3" pictus cats in a 55 gallon hex. I recently picked up a 120 gallon that is just awaiting a stand. I would like to get a Lima Shovelnose but I'm not sure if it would eat my pictus. The lima at the store is about 4 to 5 inches. Will my pictus be safe?

I wouldn't do it ... your likely to put it off till it's too late.. meaning just avoid your pictus getting eaten...

Are you saying they would be eaten in the 55 but safe in the 120? Or that they would be eaten no matter what? I'm not one to put off anything that involves fish. Especially if it involves a larger tank. :P

I had a feeling it might be that way.. do you think they would be okay together short term? Until I can get a different tank for the pictus? Or do you think it will be a problem right away? Thanks for the help. I really want a lima but would hate to see my pictus get hurt/eaten. :(

If the lima thinks it will fit it will try. So look at the lima's mouth if you think either end of your pictus will fit tail end first or head first I wouldnt do it. My lfs just had a rtc baby try to eat a cichlid that wouldn't fit and they both died. Not trying to scare you but if it has any chance of fitting there is a chance it may happen.

Okay thanks for the heads ups. I would hate for that to happen.
