Lima Shovelnose

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have seen them 2foot! so atleast a 300 gallon! and tsn can live in a 300 but its all about the footprint! 1 1/2 times the length for width and 3 times the length for length of tank!

i disagree that they need a 300gallon tank. the largest recorded captive lima was 22", and it is said that they supposedly get to 30". they arent very active so as long as the tank is wide enough, i'd say you could have one in a 150-200g

just got one of these guys, bout 6 inches right now, what is the best diet for it and how often to feed

RTC, TSN, RTCxTSN, gets 3'+. i would go with a 8'x5'x3' pond/tank.
I feed my two RTC's shrimp, mussels, octopus, squid, and sinking pellets.

Silver sides and massivore sinking pellets. Feed 2x a day and i would say 135g min tank size.

usually i'm against statements like that i'm about to make, but this question is asked frequently enough so just do a quick search and you can get all the answers on size that you'd ever need.

Average of two new threads a day from BF, most of which could be easily researched.
