my shovelnose will only eat krill how do you get them to eat other foods i didn't give him any feeders when i got him and he finally eat things like chopped fish but know he will only eat krill

they can go months if healthy. Just introduce a little bit of the food you want them to eat everyday, and when they can hold out no longer they will act as if it's the best tasting thing ever. I've had catfish fast for up to 3 months. My oldest lima seems to only eat about once every two weeks. The other two every other day.

It's not shedding it's skin that's it's slime coat. They do that when they are aggrevated, stressed, bad water, and about once a week to every two weeks when healthy, but they will do it on a moments notice when you spook them. How big is it?
i know its the slime coat and not his skin but he allways eats it when he sheds so i know hes hungry

sounds right they always eat it to reasorb the nutrients in it. Mine actually fight over each other's. They will eat it even when they are on a hunger strike. Usually they will snap out of it after a week or two.
