Hey im wanting to know about the lima shovlenose catfish. im wanting to buy a 75 gallon tank, would that be big enough?? and i would like to know the max size ext.

Hi,We feel they will need a bigger tank like at least a 125.We have four of them right now and they like to cruise the tank. The ones we have are growing very strange.Three are around eight inches and one is almost 12.Maybe our big one is the female?male? We feed them a wide variety of things including..worms,chopped up shrimp, massavoir pellets, and silver sides. They all have different personalities and are very amusing to watch. They are our favorite cats.

Definitely go bigger. Some grow incredibly fast. Others really slow, but you never know which you are getting so don't chance it. My big ones are in a 90 gal, and I am going to be putting them in a 350 next year.

I have a 9" one in my 125 and he seems to have plenty of room. I heard they max out at about 16"

should have at least a 100 gallon. they are speedy guys and can get going crazy fast in a second.

I am also in the hunt for one but sadly dont think my 110 gal is gonna be big enough.
