Lima with the big boys??.....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you will be fine keeping him with the tsn until the tsn is about 30% larger then he'll be a snack. Even if a rtc was the same length, they have such a wide mouth he'd be like a noodle, SLURP!!! Be carefull when you mix large cats. Also probably adviseable to keep a tsn for a couple of month before you mix it with a rtc same problem they have the same body shape as a lima when young. They thicken up as adults luckily. I am raising 2 tsn and 1 rtc at the moment. I got the 2 tsn one 5 months ago, and the other 1 month ago, and the rtc a week ago. The big tsn is 13" he lives with 3 limas for the moment, the little one is just 5 1/2", and my rtc is just 2 1/2", I am affraid for my rtc, he'll get eatten if he goes in with any of my other cats for right now, but hopefully in 2 weeks he'll be big enough to go in with my smallest tsn. Hope that helps, oh, and i will be seperating my tsn from my limas within the next 2 months.

oh, and maybe it might work if you keep the rtc, and tsn super well fed, and the lima was a maxed out adult of 20+". You'd have to keep their bellies full all the time, but that will supposidly build up toxins in their system and make them sickly

So far my TSN and RTC get along great and shoal together, but feeding time is a different thing all together. The RTC knocks everything out of his way!!Including my TSN!!!So i am worried the Lima(when i get 1,it wont eat enough).

Lima's, from what I have seen are pretty docile in feedingwhen it comes to being around fish near their size. If you do want to add one to your tank it MUST be over 9"...generally at that point they start to put on a little extra thickness to go along with their length...one other thing is that Lima's grow about 1/3 the rate of your TSN and RTC and max out at around 1/3 their size...the only way for you to add a lima is if it was already near adult size and docile...

he would be lunch they do not get anywhere near the size of the other 2
