i have a query ... im now in the stages of searching for some interesting features for my tank .... and im just wondering is limestone okay for the tank ... ive been told its fine but thought it would be a good idea to check ... looking at putting oscars and arowana into the tank .. ??

limestone would probably raise your pH and basically serve as a high pH/hard water buffer

I'll agree with that one. tap/well water here in florida comes from limestone aquafers, and is hard and slightly acidic.

My cichlids don't seem to mind. not sure about an aro, though.

it will raise the ph in the tank. i'll be alright for the O but i don't know about the arro. what kind of arro. you got?

i dont have one yet ... still doing my homework before getting the fish.. want to try not to have any sacrifices lol... i might skip the limestone then and go for granite rock or something

go with driftwood and a nice sandy bottom

keep us posted...and pic of the set up.
