In search of Leiarius
Is it illegal in california I know Limnobium spongia is and also european frogbit.

What are some good substitutes?

I don't see it listed on the califronia list of invasive and noxious plants

http://plants.usda.gov/java/noxious?rptType=State&statefips=06

I have had the same question here in Maine where Europian frogbit is an invasive species and have avoided amazonian simply due to the fact that its european cousin is considered invasive. So I would be interested to see someone with a bit more knowledge give their take on this.
