I've got these little white spots on the glass of my stingray tank. They move really slow and seem to just stay on the glass but i would like to get rid of them. I'm pretty sure they came from my turtle tank. He's really dirty. I messed up by using the same hose to do water changes.
I know i can't use copper. But what about loading the tank with salt?
Does anyone have an idea on how to get rid of them?

Why would you want to get rid of limpets? They're not hurting anything and they eat algae. If you leave the lights off for awhile and keep the tank clean it will probably starve them if you're that worried about.

Sure you're not thinking of planeria? In that case keeping the tank clean and siphoning the bottom regularly should starve them out.

You'd have to put an awful lot of salt for awhile to kill either one off. And I dunno what kind of rays you have, but that's a lot of stress to put on a fish just to get rid of harmless pest, not to mention if you raise the salt too high for an extended period your biobacteria is gonna die.

The rays r Leos. Your right, i shouldn't worry about it. My rays r more important and their health is my main concern. As long as these cerstaitions don't hurt my fish.
Is there any way limpets could feed on a fishes slime coat?

Would an algeaside be harmful to singrays? I'd rather not, but if they get really bad, i might want to try something

Regarding algaecides, it depends on which ones, and I'm not real well versed on what stuff hurts rays, so you might want to ask that in the ray forum.

I don't think planeria would be harmful to your rays, but they feed on detritus, so if you have a ton of them that might mean you need to do some maintenance. Siphon the bottom of your tank good and clean out your filters.

Limpets won't bother your fishes slimecoat, they feed exclusively on algae. I wouldn't be surprised if your rays will eat them, and it wouldn't hurt them to do so.

Try taking a pic though so we can see if what you have is even either of the above.

I've tried taking pics of these things. Just won't happen. Camera just can't focus good enough
And i thought plenaria was a worn?

Planeria is a flatworm, but when they're just sitting they can look kinda roundish. You'd probably have noticed them moving around like a worm by now if they were that though.

I've scraped one off the glass and put it under a microscope. U can kinda see gills moving and maybe a stomach.
The rest of it just looks blurry.
They move like a snail, super slow. As long as they leave my fish alone, I'll just keep trying to suck them up with water changes
Thanks

They do have a small gill.

The body and head is similar to a regular snail, which they essentially are, as the freshwater varieties are not technically a true limpet.

Like I said, they feed exclusively and algae, and they are shaped that way because they usually stay on rocks or hard surfaces, not substrate, so they shouldn't hurt your rays. :)
