is it the same as a fahaka? puffer sites seem to indicate, but I have been told by a fish keeper that it is a smaller puffer, and less agressive.

also, what's the general opinion of trying to keep a lineatus puffer with a group of exodon tetras? any ideas?

Same fish. Tetraodon lineatus is the valid scientific name for the fahaka puffer, which was previously known as Tetraodon fahaka. People generally don't have good luck keeping fahakas with other fish, but exodons are pretty fast. I'd give it a shot--exodons are cheap and tough. :)

Yep a fahaka

I really wouldn't do exedons, they might pick at the puffer to much. They may take little chuncks out of him.

thanks. Seems to be one for puffer eating tetras, and one for tetras eating puffer. I guess I'll have to try the exodon thing( for a few minutes?)- maybe I'll start a new trend, if it works. :)

Congrats on the pickup. My fahaka was an absolute terror and ALWAYS hungry

I've only had him about 48 hours now- he is def. eating well- got a lot of grass shrtimp for him- but he seems to be well, fuzzy. I noticed his bottom lip was odd, and after scrutiny, he seems to be kinda covered in a fuzz. I added another tablespoon of salt, and a dose of pima fix--- any other suggestions?

I tested the water, pH is 7.8, no ammonia, no nitrites or nitrates. He is the only fish in the tank, outside of the shrimp that are left.
