I have a 1 year old Green severum that is 7" and still growing. I have a Red spot Severum that is almost a year and is only 4" but still growing.

I also have a EBJD same age at the green severum and he is only 4" and not growing any more.

So it makes me think that line bred fish are more likely to be runts. What do you think?

Also discus are line bred domesticated. Many don't get larger then 5" and people are so quick to call them stunted if a discus does not grow to 7". but maybe its just genetic.

here is my severum that seems to be small

I am assuming that when you say line bred you mean hybrid. I am not interested in them at all.

No. Line breeding is selecting genetic traits within spawns and breeding fish the have the same parents together or back to the parents. Hybrids are a cross of two different species of fish.

Linebreeding does result in smaller individuals, yes. I don't know anything about severums but your theory makes sense on the whole. This could be a runt born of two runts who were their own grandpas. He's beautiful, though! Looks a little on the lazy side.

Yes, but most breeders breed for fin types and color without concern for adult size.
