I really want to start a salt water tank, I have heard that carnivores are good starter salt fish because they are more hardy. Is this true? I am aware that the lion fish I have my heart set on will get to be the size of a basket ball, so I was looking at the dwarf lion fish. How big do the dwarfs get? I also want a snowflake eel because they are BEAUTIFUL and from what I've seen rather fun to have. Would having a dwarf lion and a snowflake eel in the same tank be a good idea, or would the snowflake eat it once it got bigger? Or would the snowflake leave it alone? Also what tank size would I need to house them? I don't plan on adding any other fish I just want the lion and the snowflake.

I don't know about the lions, but the snowflake will be fine for about 3-4 years in a 55, but will eventually need a 75 gallon tank. It probably won't eat a lion.

alteast a 55...

I would just roll with the 75 for both though. I would also purchase the larger lion, and give him the 75 to grow, and eventually upgrading him to a 125 or giving him to a good owner. Theres always someone that will purchase a huge lion.

The 75 would last you a long time, and they would get along great.

i dont know about lionfish and eels, but you could consider a blueline grouper.i personally think they are one of the hardiest of all marine fish.easy to feed to. :)
