hi guys,

i am thinking of keeping a lionfish in a 70 gallon tank.i am just wondering about the water quality for lions.do i really need to use ro/di water for them or could i use tap water treated with dechlorinators.i plan to use a wet/dry and protein skimmer.

please help.any info is appreciated..

From what ive read, using ro/di water helps out with algae growth. I dont know if ro water will benefit the fish. I might be totally wrong on this. I use tap water for water changes and i have no problem withe algae, but that also all depends on area too. Give it a bit and let the pros give u a correct answer.

pretty much no matter what fish is it... you can use treated tap water

if your tap water has nitrates or phosphates in it, i would seriously consider an RO unit though

I would definitely go with RO/DI water if you have the fund's it pay's for itself in the long run. Secondly are you doing a fish only tank if so go with the Wet/Dry Trickle filter and for sure get a good protein skimmer preferably from ASM best skimmer for a fair price.
