Hey guys,

My housemate has a young (approx. 9cm long) Pterois antennata in a 5 foot tank with a problem.

It appears to have an oval shaped fish louse on its left eye, which is making its cornea cloudy.

After a little cursory research on Google, it seems most parasite meds should not be used on scorpionfishes of any kind including lionfish.

What then, should we do to fix the problem?

Cheers,

I have successfully used a prazi pro bath on other senstive fish such as salt water sting ray. Just a few drops and I could see the lice immediately drop off the fish. Dont know about using it for lion fish though . Guess you could try a bath and add a few drops until the lice comes off or the fish show signs of stress.

Have you tried a freshwater dip?

If it is only one you could try physically removing but that could being risky to you and the fish...lol

Good Luck

Well, we gave the lionfish a freshwater bath last night. All is well now, the lionfish is fine, and the louse fell off after we teased it off during the bath.
