Hello! i have a 30g tank that isn't in use right now and i was thinking about keeping dwarf lionfish in it but was unsure as to what equipment i would need. i've kept alot of FW fish but this would be my first attempt at a SW tank. this would be a FOWLR tank. what would be the necessary equipment i.e. skimmer, hangover filter, etc.?

Make sur e that you have live rock and a skimmer is all that you really need- and some powerheads or a closed loop to add some water movement. With all the waste that they will produce, you willl want to do weekly water changes or add a deep sand bed or something to reduce nitrates. Also, dwarf lions LOVE to hide- Mine would stay on the under side of a rock. Make sure that you find it before you do any tank maintenance. Try to get it to feed on frozen foods if you can, and remember that they will eat till they pop if you let them. Anyway- back to setup- a good skimmer, water motion, and lots of hiding places. I'd try to have big caves so that you can see him, yet let him feel comfortable. And lastly, a good fitting cover. My fuzzy dwarf decided that he wanted to see how the floor felt- and since he was good at hiding I didn't notice him behind the tank for at least 2 days! Feel free to ask if you need any morehelp. wetwebmedia.com also is a great place for salt info
