Hi I was reading that the fuzzy dwarf lionfish are ok in brackish but is that true?
How safe or unsafe are the fresh water lionfish with needlenose, columbian sharks, and a dragon gobby?
Are batfish ok for brackish tanks I have read serveral places they are?

I can't imagine that they are ok in brackish, I've never heard that before. Perhaps some can tolerate high brackish/low marine at 1.018 but I wouldn't recommend that for their full life span without it being cut short.

However, I'll basically say that I don't know 100% to the contrary that they can't, I just don't believe it to be so without hearing/reading some prof or evidence.

Totally SW fish.

Mr Monks talks about how the the salinity here fluctuates with the tide, from about half to full strength sea water. "Fish that normally inhabit marine conditions but will enter brackish waters if the mood takes them". Some SW fish will venture into BW & even FW but forcing them long term will lower their immune system, causing disease & early death.

I searched that article for lionfish & all I could find were scorpoinfish. I'm not sure how closely related they are for this application. I have seen some folks keeping some scorpion species in high-end BW. My take on this is that if you're going that high in SG, wny not just go over the top to SW & add live rock/sand & a skimer, for better filtration & less water changes?

What types of scorpoinfish have you seen in brackish. I am thinking of getting a tank and starting a SW tank how much harder would it be then brackish?

IMO, SW can be easier than FW/BW, because the filtration is totally different. Instead of HOB/canister filters & large weekly WC, you have live rock/sand & a protein skimmer for filtration. Less WC are necessary.
