I've been having some conversation with other aquarists about whether or not, time in captivity, with processed foods (as opposed to picking on and thru rocky substrate in the Rio Mamoni) will influence the way, or if this Darienheros calobrensus cichlid lips will grow, remain, or shrink over time in captivity.
This seems to happen with Amphilophus labiatus, and other thick lipped cichlid species.

The 4 shots above were taken in mid July just after catpture, the is a juvie, and the last pic, the adult pair.
The next shots a month later, a similar aged juvie and adults.
