For me it does.
But it is a pita because at every water change you have to premix your change water before putting it in a tank. So that you don't cause a ph swing.
I use it under different circumstances then most though. I use it to convert ammonia to ammonium in a fat head minnow holding tank. I have found that at 5.5ph that the bio filter does not work nearly at all.
