I decided to pick back up the book project. I have a list of freshwater rays, does this look complete (for the hobby)? These are all the species I've seen for sale or owned in captivity by someone so far, although there's always something new :)

Anyone have a suggestion of a species to add?

Hystrix has been reclassified to Wallacei... Boesemani are also called the emperor ray.

Are you going to cover the variants as well like "marbled motoro," "king henlei," "black diamond" and "thousand island?"

A few to add so far:

Snow Leopard Stingray (Potamotrygon xingu)
Porcupine River Ray (Potamotrygon wallacei) - this species REPLACES P. hystrix on the list - I will definitely make a note of that in the book, since I don't think too many people even know that wallacei is a species, let alone that it's actually the hystrix ray
Bleeker's Whipray (Himantura bleekeri)
Pearl Stingray (Potamotrygon sp. pearl) - thoughts on including this species?

Himantura polyepsis and dalyensis were (actually very recently) reclassified to the genus Urogymnus.

I'd love to get that book, $150 is a lot though!
As these books are released you can usually find a lower priced Kindle version or E-book in pdf format.

Good point, that may help. I've got Sharks of the World, I guess that book will complement it :)

I'm mostly working on species in the hobby for now though, may do some bio sheets on interesting species afterwards

Who remembers that fresh water ray that bogwood bruce had or had at a pet store he worked at? If i remember right lol
