Just started this today(I got bored). Water looks kinda murkey but that is just from the back of the book shelf behind it.

I have about an inch of top soil/compost with fine gravel on top. Put some hair grass in the back right. 3 stones I grabbed from another random tank that didn't need them and tied some java moss onto one.

Maybe ill put some dwarf baby tears in the front, probably yeah.

I just want to get a better light than a shop light with a 10 Watt Mini Fluorescent Aquarium Bulb (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10448675) in it.

Oh and i threw in a sprouted Aponogeton blub in the back right.

I got bored lol.

sweet! Smallest ive gone is ten gallons but i think mini aquariums are cool. fosters and smith has good deals on mini power compacts, which are cheap and should help you with the light you need.

it looks great! the light doesnt look terrible, just kind of messy. good luck with your tank and hopefully you can be the next takashi amano. :D

totally rad! i just did the same thing with a 2.5 gallon when i was bored last weekend. let me know how it turns out. are you going the filterless route or are you using a filter. i tried without but the fish died so i got soem used media out of my big tank and put it in a little internal. i also hooked up diy co2 injection.

keep us posted yo!

Yea, im going filterless for now might keep it that way if it gets fully established. Altho im a little worried the HC i plan on adding might over grow for such a small tank like this http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/forumapc/nano-aquariums/61015-natural-filterless-nano-tank.html

much plant potential. what do you plan on stocking?

Not sure, ether a few Ember Tetras or just Shrimps.

idk if the hair alge died and turned..White? I did a 1/3 water change a day from another tank to keep the nitrates from the others water. And now Im using the light from a Aerogarden3 I had sitting around.

Any ideas what that white fiber things could be? I sucked them off but by the time they got threw the other side of the tube into the bucket there was nothing left.
