This is my little baby albino sen when I first got him and now a few weeks later, getting quite chunky on his Massivore. Just wanted to show him off.

My question is about delhezi and their pattern though, how does it change as they grow? I really like when the stripes are longer and more distinct, but a lot of younger ones seem to have more splotchy and broken patterns. What is your experience with this?

I am hoping to get one within the next few weeks now that my 90g is set up and the sen can come out of quarantine.

I have 4 juvenile delhezi in a grow out tank at the moment. Their patterns are all fragmented and broken, although two have more distinctive patterns. I have read in multiple places that they begin looking like this, and develop more coherent patterns as they approach the 5"-6" mark.

As they get more size it will become more pronounced. The markings will get more darker and widen out a bit. The markings will vary among dels. Mostly there are regular dels here but there are royals out there with incredible stripes/markings. Just wait for them to increase in size. Nice albino by the way.

I figured that most would grow into their patterns, but wanted to verify.

Now that JA isn't an option, I'm having to find somewhere new to get my del from, and I really like the more solid markings. The royals are gorgeous, any idea where I could order one, or is it just a waiting game? Any other recommendations for where to go for a del? My lfs could order them, but I don't like the idea of ordering blind, and I would hate to stick them with it or end up with one I am not 100% sold on. Aquabid over the last few months has been frustrating slim.

Thanks! He's my husband's fish, and getting pretty tame. He'll actually take the pellet by hand, when he manages to get pellet rather than finger...

I have ordered my del from eBay. It was from the aquatic day care llc. They have a online website. Try wetspot, blue grass aquatics, fishonlinerus, aquascape, and petzonesd. Theses guys will have them.

I believe royals are mostly seen in Asia as they are bred for money and they get plenty of money. Here (usa) they are bred for quantity so the quality isn't a major issue. There are a few that are more striking in their patterns and will cost more but not the way they are in Asia.

That's pretty much exactly what I am trying to avoid, a fish that's bred just to get the cash. I would much rather pay more for a selectively bred one, I just don't know where to look. I really don't want to purchase the fish blindly and potentially be disappointed on shipment day. I wish I lived somewhere I could hand select one.
