I set up my 55 gal. tank recently and its in week 5-6 of cycling. I just walked by and focused on the glass and noticed something strange....hundreds of little somethings. There are little white things "crawling" across the glass and floating/crawling across the surface of the water (and just below the surface floating freely). They're as thin as a hair, about 1mm long and white. I don't have this in either of my other tanks.

The tank is 82 deg. F. I do at least 2 water changes per week. I use AmQuel and/or API tap water conditioner for water changes. I use Seachem Stability as well. The ammonia is around 2ppm, 0ppm nitrite, low nitrate, 7.3-7.4 pH. There is a HOB filter on the tank. There is no light yet.

I have 8 giant danios in the tank. None of the fish appear to be infected or infested with anything.

What should I do?

They're all planaria and possibly detritus worms, both of which are harmless. Check your water parameters and feeding regimen. Overfeeding and poor water conditions are the causes of their abundance.

I was planning on moving the HOB filter from that tank to my 34 and my XP4 over to the 55. Will the little crawlers be a problem if introduced to my 34? It's far cleaner and already cycled/established.

I'm struggling with the cycle on my 55. I don't know why, I've never had my water params go this haywire while cycling a tank before. I think this is why the water is icky.

They aren't a problem. They just disappear when you do water changes and gravel vacuuming consistently without overfeeding.
