I found a tank, it's 5ft long, x 1ft wide x 1.5ft high...

the downside is, it's made of only 6mm glass...

I was looking for a new tank for my cichlids, but am a tad scared of using this tank since the glass is so thin, (I'm use to 10mm glass)

Any suggestions would be great on how I could Cheaply increase the strength of the glass, or should I just not bother.. build a wooden brace for it?

black = stand/hood and the brace to keep the tank together
grey = back of the tank, (more bracing)
white = tank (and for you smart A55's it's also the background)

 cheers

Should be fine.

Its only 1.5' high. Height is what applies the pressure.

Iv'e had larger tanks than that made of 6mm. My 6x18x18 is...

Like Steve said, it should be fine. I've seen tanks that size made from 4mm glass.

It's the height that normally determines the thickness of glass.

Just like steve mentioned, I have also a tank that is made of 6mm glass and the size is 6ft x 1.5 ft x 1.5 ft.
