I have Jewels, 3 times they have laid eggs, I have yet to see 1 egg hatch, they have their own corner in the tank, they seem to keep all other fish out of the area. But after 2-3 days after the eggs are laid the spot is bare.

I tried to make their area more secure by pots and blocking it off with larger plants.

I removed the impossible to catch CAE.

Doing more frequent water changes.

Anything else to do?

What is your water temp? What are your water parameters? I have a pack of these guys but only two have paired up. I have had multiple succesful spawns/fry usually when the water temp was raised. I had them in a community tank but they have incresed in their breeding since being moved to a jewel only tank.

temp in the 78-80...and yeah about the water params...I don't ever check them (bad fish keeper) lots of water changes and over filtration make up for my neglect in pristine water.

these guys are in a 55g with a couple of other Jewels and Cons total 11 fish. All of them about 2".

r u sure there fertilized

hard to say, look off whitish...I don't want to go poking around to much as they start eating the eggs to protect them against me...

I don't think your water and parameters are the problem otherwise they would not be laying eggs. It is possible that the male is not fertilizing them.
