Ok so I have a red isletas pair. They are amphilophus which are usually pretty easy to breed. My problem is I've had eggs laid twice and the male just eats them. Then a few days ago I watched him chase and push her till she tropped her egg tube but then he just stops.

-I've been told to just give them time which I plan on doing.
-I was told to have a a few breeding spots which I did but then the male just stays on one side and hides so I just have one large pot in the tank now.
-I was told to add fish to help them form a bond while pritecting an area. The female chases but the male is very skiddish and just hides a lot.

The fish they share a tank with are a dovii hybrid and some kind of hybrid I got for free. Both are 2-3 inches.

So my question is, should I add a larger fish or a few more small ones for them to chase?
