Okay I recently got one of the fish of my dreams a Armatus, now I need help finding suitable tankmates. I know they're a couple of experts with these guys out there as matter of fact some of have helped me when I asked other questions regarding Armatus care. Well I'm asking for help again, so please help me out. Right now I've got the Armatus in a tank with a Silver Aro, 4 Silver Dollars, and various catfish including 2 Trachycorystes, Achara cat, Vulture cat and a hybrid Achara/TSN. The Trachy's and Achara are getting sold or given away soon. I also have in another tank 2 Scombs growing out that I hope to add to the Armatus tank when they get some size and if they hopefully get past that sudden death thing at around 12 inches. Just wanted some input on what are suitable tankmates for the Armatus. I've heard they're wusses that's why I gave him some Silver Dollars to bully, to give him an outlet for aggression on a fish that's not dangerous.

silver dollars move around a lot and might aggravate the armatus into eating less or if it's a skiddish fish, to hurt itself.

the arrow is good. dunno about the cats. armatus like to fly low, if the catfish are aggressive or overly active... similar outcome to silver dollars.

if the tats are smaller than the armatus, not likely they'll catch up.
should be fine together as long as armatus agrees. Mine were ok with 6-8inch scombs until the scombs succumed to sudden death. armatus are 12+ inches.

Thanx for the info. Your right about the cats at least my Achara seems to make him nervous. That's why he's got too go(the achara). It's too bad I like the big lumbering clod, but his size and sudden movements while feeding and at night seem to make the Armatus anxious. He loves the dollars though, well loves to chase them. He seems more confident since I've added them. Anyone else got some ideas?

Clown knives, even Royals (which I find are the worst of the bunch), tend to be pretty mellow with anything that doesn't swim "like a knife". By that I mean in an undulating fashion.
