Hey guys, i have a little red oscar, he kinda has a skinny lower belly, is this bad? or does it mean sickness, bad genes and such? I picked the smallest best looking one in the tank, because i love to raise them and see them grow :D he is a bit timid i have had him since friday, he eats well and responds well too. sorry for the crappy quality its off my cel phone.

Lemme know what you think!

i really think that it has bad genes..im not sure though...help would be appreciated (: this isnt a bump lol just wanted to get that in :D

He just needs some quality foods to plump him up. Oscars arent always treated the best by LFS's because they go through so many of them. To me, yours doesnt look deformed. He just needs to fatten up and get use to his new home.

i now know that..he was begging for food and ate a BUNCH now he looks a lot better :D

what do you guys think about the colors on him? im thinkin he's gunna be a good lookin oscar..at least hope so lol

Well there colors change so much just even as they reach 2-3 inches. I bought mine at 1" and he was super bright with lots of red and now it comes and goes as he shows off. He looks healthy enough from the bad quality of the camera but feed him a couple times a day with some good pellet and some brine shrimp and blood worms. I have been feeding mine smallests pellets twice a day and every other day I give him lunch of brine or blood worms.

exactly what im doing, i feed him new life spectrum (he wont eat hikari) and then blood worms the next day around 2-3 (my lunch break lol) even though ive only had him since friday :D he is awesome

I was suprised how fast mine grew during this feeding schedule. Not to mention the rest of my fish have amazing growth rate and beautiful colors.
