I have recently received an oscar that is apparently female and has apparently layed eggs already. What I have heard before about Oscars is that they don't reach sexual maturity until they are fully grown and she is only about 7" in length. Have others had young/small oscars lay eggs before? I thought that perhaps she was older, maybe stunted, but she shows no real signs of that. She is properly shaped and looks as though she was quite well looked after (other than the fact that her tail is nipped a bit from the smaller JD that she was living with). Feedback?
around 6-7" is when most oscars will reach maturity so there's nothing abnormal about your oscar. you can try finding a male to go with her but as hard as oscars are to sex added with the fact that yours is already mature will make adding other fish pretty difficult.
