Hi,
I have a 6 month old tank (5'X3'X2') with an 8" silver arowana and about a dozen convict cichlid fry (1.5 weeks old).

I was wondering if I could finally get a motoro ray. The ray is 8" disk diameter and female. I wanted to know if the convict fry would bother the ray. I don't care about the fry (if they get eaten or not) but I want to know before I purchase the $150 ray if it will get bullied by the fry. Would it be better for me to get the 6" female hystrix? it's cheaper too.

Thanks for putting up with my long question. I figure it's better to ask a long, silly question than make a stupid, costly mistake.

Thanks for your time.

Could I have some suggestions for a fish I could get that won't bug the ray or aro, will eat the fry, and is from the amazon?

I'm surprised that the tread hasn't even had 1 view yet...

Fry probably wont be a problem but will probably get eaten, depending on the ray your aro might get attacked too. Your tank wont last forever, but its not a bad grow out, I'd say you have 2-3 years ish in that tank. Theres no way that hystrix is an actual hystrix, probably just an orb or a retic, dont get it.

Ok, so I should go with the motoro. It looks healthier any way...
The ray is really slugish. all it does at the petstore is bury it's self and sits there. It's very un aggressive too. should I worry about the aro?

Do you mean the motoro or "hystrix"? If its the motoro doesnt move and just sits their buried, might be a good idea to buy from a reputable breeder, like vamptrev ^ . Its all up to the ray, it might go for the aro, it might not, all chance. I've had aros get eaten, also had rays get ripped apart, it goes both ways.

few extra bucks and you will have a much better ray from vamptrev...
