Ok so last night I went to the lfs to put a payment on my new tank 220g! Woot :headbang2 anywho while I was talking to the guy my gf who hated my tanks from the Beginning... bought me a endli bichir I did not ask for it or even say I wanted she just bought it out of nowhere lol! She said it was cute :p

Anyways the questions

1: how big and how fast. Do they grow he is super small right now about inch and a half
2:how are there aggression
3:any additional advice would be sweet

Thanks for ur time:grinno:

they grow about an inch a month with good feeding and slow down around a foot
theyre the same as alot of other fish, if it fits in their mouth then its food
good foods are tilapia, massivore, and cleaned shrimp

Wow, that's awesome! Trust me, if your hobby hating GF suddenly takes a big interest, you can make it work :) There's nothing more aggressive than a BF/GF/Spouse that doesn't care for your hobby!

I am not a Bichir expert, so I'll let the others take care of your questions. But, I had to reply :)

at that size, I would be feeding small sinking carnivore pellets and worms. I would be feeding it at least twice a day as that is quite small.

Make sure the tank has a tight fitting lid and do frequent water changes to aid in growth.

Mine grew from about 4"-14" in about 9 months. Everyone says they slow down then but mine are still growing steadily and nearing 2'.

They are not aggressive, but piscivored and opportunistic. I would recommend you read through the polypterus primer which is stickied.

True, so if you have any other fish that could fit into its mouth, beware. The day will come when those jaws would eventually get it

Ok I'll read up on that thanks I just got him yesterday has not ate yet I led the lights off so hopefully when I get home he will be going after leftover flakes and pellets :) thanks for all the info do u think it will out grow the 220? I kno eventually my aro will out grow it so there's a DIY tank I'n the future

I keep mine at constant 28 C, it is said that higher temp could increase their appetite. Feed them often, and keep the water clean.
here is a thread which shows the growth of baby endlis,
