about 14". i hand feed him 4-5 whole lancefish a day

Does your bichir ever bother your loaches? I want to get some for my tank, but am afraid the endli will eat em.

I've never had a problem with loaches and polypterus but with bichers it's all about personality. Some endli's and lap's will bite anything and others completely soft!
