The overbite is characteristic of hartwegi, not zonatus. Never know if it is pure though.

Yeah, the small ones in this genus are difficult to tell apart. As far as I know, the overbite is diagnostic of hartwegi. Also, there are one or two thin horizontal bars between the eyes, but they fade depending on mood. Nice fish - they get more colorful as they age, and yours already has some nice red and blue on it.

Yeah what ever it is I'm very pleased he is a real little gem. Was sold as a syn for like £5 so he was a steal as well .

Haha tell me about it. This is what he was like when I first saw him in the Lfs he's the larger one at the back
