I found little white worms i my 29 that looks like tiny hairs. are they dangerous to my fish and how do i get rid of them. please let me know. my fish dont seem effected at all. but just wondering. thanx

are they attached to the glass?

its most likely planaria which means you should probably cut back on feeding a bit and do more water changes

they are protazoin worms they will not harm your fish they come from an abundance of nutrients in the tank... dont take this the wrong way but it could be from over feeding or not enough clean water weekly.... there is no real way to treat this huge gravel vacs and water changes could help but ive seen cases where they simply couldnt be removed without an entire teardown.... uv sterilizer will get rid of them

Better "housekeeping" can cut their numbers back greatly. Daily bottom vacs, and regular water changes limit the food source. They can be difficult to eradicate from a tank completely if you have heavy protein eating fish. I've read that the "hairs" are the adult stage, and the ones that stick to the glass are the larval stage. Ugly, but harmless creatures.

has anyone ever used Life bearer or some other mess to treat them? I have tons of them in my tank too. There's no gravel and I siphon the waste out every other day. I do notice more of them in tanks with fish that eat more protein though. Looks disgusting with them floating around in the water.
