not sure if this is the right forum but how long can live bloodworms stay alive in a tank? should i syphon out any that arent eaten right away or is it ok to leave them in there for the fish to take when they want?

I was able to keep blood worms alive for 2 weeks at a time. I kept them in a contained and put 1/2 inch of water above them. Change the water daily and rinse the blood worms before feeding. I've been using black worms though for the passed 2 years. I've found them to be cleaner and they live for a longer time.

I put mines in a butter container, plastic container, or a Tupperware. Just rise them with cold water everyday or evry other day. Only leave enough water for them not to drown.

when i had rays and was feeding blood and black worms heavily, i wouldent bother syphoning any out. when i would do a weekly syphon, i never noticed a large ammount of uneaten worms.

most fish are going to go crazy over live worms, and wont stop picking though your substrate until almost every last one is gone.

the day after you feed them, syphon the water and see whats left in the bottom of a bucket. if its alot of worms, either cut down your feedings, or start syphoning out a few hours/day after feeding them. if you find none, or not many at all, i wouldent worry
