You could go to a fishing store and buy the ones used for bait. It's a bit of a gamble whether or not it will survive (be it a very cheap gamble), but that is where I got mine and it lasted for 2 years. Sports Chalet also sells crayfish. Expect to pay anywhere from $0.10 to $0.30.
 
Any Asian market will sell them. 99 Ranch supermarket sells them for $3.99 a pound here. They have 99 Ranch in socal also.
