I bought some feeders (guppies) that I quarantined in my 20 gallon tank. There were about 10 other guppies in there at the time I dropped in an additional 20 guppies. Here's the problem, I've noticed ich on several of the new guppies. I removed the sick looking guppies and turned the water tempeture up to 85. The remainder of the fish look fine but can I feed these guppies to my RBP's? Please advise!

i definetly would not feed them to my fish. imo they should be quarantined for a while and treated for parasites and etc. and show no signs of disease for a couple weeks. but i havent fed anything live to my Ps in a long time.

the ones that look fine? i would imagine... you could always wait another 3 or 4 days to see what turns up. which would be the better thing to do.

Once they're fine, you could. I don't see any harm in it. Predators feed on the weak and the sick anyways. I've seen sick feeders in my tank and get eaten with no side effects on my fish.

I don't think its worth risking. I would do several water changes over the next couple days in that tank. Then if they look good use them.

Would resistant strains of ich be present forever in this tank even with the guppies long gone? The bottom of my tank doesn't have any substrate in it b/c I wanted to keep a clean tank. There is just a fake frog that blows bubbles :)

When would the ich be definitely gone and when should I turn my water temp back down to 80?

You need to keep the heat up and dose the tank good with salt (look at the fish health forum) But do NOT feed your Ps the good "looking" ones just b/c they look good doesn't mean they don't have something you can't see yet. treat the tank with salt and heat then give it some time. It looks like your Ps are eating pellets tonight lol

I totally agree.
