So I have a baby pass, and he had been pretty much fully fed live food. He occasionally eats frozen blood worms I drop in for the other fish, but isnot very interested. I would like too keep him on a live diet because I would like to mimic natural life for him. Is there any problems with this?

Just the usual problems of feeding live food. Fungus, bacteria, etc... I have had any problems though and my 2 only eat a live diet. I just make sure I don't put more food in the tank than they can eat right away so the feeders are not in the tank to long. Hope this helps.

I've currently been feeding mine mosquito fish from a local private pond, and I get a large amount at a time so they have been going in the tank with him so he can eat them as he pleases. They get a lot of food and get very plump before he ends up eating them all. They normally stay in the tank for about a week before he eats them all, and he will go about 3 days without before I get more.

Like I said I would just worry about bacteria and pesticides / chemicals etc. if they are wild feeders. But if it's been working good for awhile now then I would keep it up and just monitor. I use flathead minnows I get from a minnow farm and my bass are happy, healthy and growing fast!! The also eat the occasional blood worms.

Id highly recommend quarentining feeders for a decent period of time and treating them for all kinds of diseases before giving them to your bass. Also gives you time to fatten them up and gut load them with nutritious foods. A diet of feeders will usually lead to nutrient deficient and unhealthy fish. A varied diet would help also if you give them other live foods such as worms and crayfish

Yeah my cousin has 2 baby large mouth and we have been talking about setting up a 20 for the feeders to go in. My pbass is much too small for any crayfish at the moment lol, but I definitely will give him some crayfish when he grows older. Any other suggestions for food when he grows older? I like a varied diet

Feeding live is fine. Just make sure theyre quarantined and gut loated with quality pellets/flakes right before you feed. Also, throw in only as much as they can eat in one sitting.

If the mosquito fish are not wild and you breed them in good clean water you won't have to quarantine the mosquito fish but if they are wild (or from outside) you should put them in a quarantine tank and put a group in then wait for 1-2 weeks and make sure they are healthy before introducing
