I have been wanting to get my fish some live food, such as blackworms, but all the LFSs around me just sell frozen foods. Can I feed my fish the earthworms bought at bait shops, or is this not a good idea?

ive fed baitshop earthworms without problems before.

Should I cut up the worms, because that sounds disgusting. I think at least some of my fish are big enough to eat whole worms- I have 2 mono sebae, 2 mono argenteus, krebensis, serpae tetras, rams, and pictus cats.

Yeah you definatly want to cut them up, don't want your fish looking like this.
Fish love earthworms :)

i did that with my bluegill and such. then i just started a worm farm and never had to worry about buying them again.

Live blackworms are freakishly expensive. i looked into getting some from work cause i get it at cost, well i have to order 3 pounds worth of it minimal, and its $13.75 A POUND!!!...No thanks

It’s all relative, how big is your fish compared to how big is the worm?

Don’t be stupid about it, just use your brain! Heh bait worms are usually good, there is not harm in going to your local and purchasing some little mollys or something, also if you wanted, feeding your little dude some “live food” is kinda boring when it’s worms. You should try to feed it peeled prawns or little whitebait from your local seafood shop!

You can keep them frozen for ages and when you want just pull one or 2 out and defrost it!

Good luck!

Howdy,

I'm sure your Monos would love crickets (www.wormman.com) ... and also brackish water ;)
