I know that everyone says to stay away from live food but i was wondering what success people have had with live foods and im only thinking of doing live food maybe once a week or twice a week with neon tetras or something that isnt just a plain old feeder fish. I am already feeding a high grade pellet as a staple but just curios on what live foods would be best

earth worm and red wigglers =] all my fish love them and coloration is a nice bonus, great for getting fish into breeding condition, for small fish however a good one is mosquito larvae

neons are kind of an expensive feeder... but yeah i would stick to bugs, if you really want to do fish then set you up like a 10g tank throw in a ton of plants and get you some guppies, you will have more feeders than you know what to do with and the breeder tank will look pretty cool as well, but pretty much any small fish besides gold fish would be fine to use as a feeder as long as you quarantine them first

you could also try meal worms.easy to find, and store. they sell them in petco/petsmart
