I have a few questions. I read through all the Live Rock posts but still need a few answers.

If the live rock dries out can it still be good?

For a 100 Gallon Fish Only Tank how much live rock will I need?

Thanks

1) to some degree. the algea might be viable but the bacteria and protists are defineatly dead. but the good new is you can start it in with some"fresh" live rock and have it come to life again. dont do this in a cycled tank, it will re-cycle.

2)about a 100 pounds total, in the end. that either means buying 100 lbs of LR, or 50 of LR 50 reg., or 25 LR 75 reg. you just have to wait for the reg rock to become "live".

It depends, becuase it will be full of rotten things. Just the smell of it is enough to discourage you from re using it...

My "exagerated " rule is around 25%/30% of the tanks volume in rock...

Thanks
and for regular rock to become live you will need it near live rock for at least 6 months....

Part of my reply is in the "quote" sorry...
