A friend recently gave me 2 big pieces of Live Rock from his Saltwater Aquarium. These rocks have been outside for the last month, and are most definitely dead. Today I rinsed, scrubbed, then boiled both of them for about 15-20 mins in a good rolling boil then rinsed and scrubbed again.

Is it now OK for my Freshwater tank? They have a lot of holes I plan to attach plants to, but I've learned the hard way once before... When in doubt, ask MFK.

Thanks in advance!

NO! Its limestone and will peg your pH at 8.0 or higher. Not recommended unless doing brackish.

Thanks for the fast reply. I'll save them for my future African tank.

BTW, Dethklok Rules. "There are no fingerprints deep underwater...."
