Live Rock question

Hey, I've been looking at this stuff and it says on the page that it works even better than normal wet live rock. Is this true. If I was to get this stuff for the new tank i'm building and add in live sand and maybe a few larger pieces of other live rock would this become live pretty fast or would it take a while before it would become live? I really like the way it looks and it would be alot easier to set it up dry. What do you think? [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]This rock is Pre Cycled![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]

Your tank will mature faster using Marco Rocks than it would with shipped live rock!

Why?
When live rock is shipped it begins to dry, marine organisms do not like to be dry! They start to die and continue to die for 6 months after making it to your tank.

actually the die off of organics waste works for your maturing process. with the ammonia spike die off from live rock makes it will provide enough to cycle the tank with out fish. also the already huge bacteria colonies on the rock will cycle your nitrogen cycle usually in days, the dirtiest rocks may take a couple weeks as they have alot of ammonia.

i really hardly see how there better. people go with mostly base rock and a piece of live rock to seed to save money, plain and simple. it may seem cycled faster because theres less bioload, but the liverock would have way more bacteria at the end. also i dont know of any man made rock that is as porous as real live rock

base rock usually takes a couple weeks to take on the appearence of live rock.

good point pre-cycled and dry is contridictory. actually feel like berating they guy if it was really was live rock when he obtained it as he killed it and most of its value along with it.

so he actually means theres nothing left on the rock to die or survive in the aquarium.

the rock to look nice, although a bit dense if the picture of 50 pounds of rock is the size i think it is. tho.

finding the hitchhikers on liver rock is half the fun.


to be honest this is simply base rock, so i would treat it as such when comparing prices.



dont want to seem like coming down hard on the guy but its frankly what i think, on the positive side his price isnt too bad for base rock lb wise.
